Glass Flasks

Glass flasks are commonly used for heating, mixing, storing, and measuring liquids. The narrow neck of these flasks keeps liquids from spilling or splashing while they're being carried or stirred. Stoppers are often used to protect contents. Glass is chemical and scratch resistant and doesn't absorb odors. Glass can be sterilized between uses and withstands higher temperatures than plastic, making it a good choice for applications where substances will be heated.
Glass Volumetric Flasks
Volumetric flasks have calibrated markings on the neck for mixing solutions with high precision. Liquid is slowly added up to the etched line on the neck to reach the required volume. Volumetric flasks are designed to measure one specific volume, for example, 250mL.

Glass Erlenmeyer Flasks
Erlenmeyer flasks have a wide, flat bottom to quickly heat and boil liquids. Sometimes called e-flasks or titration flasks, the narrow neck limits vapor loss and can be sealed with a stopper.

Glass Boiling Flasks
Boiling flasks are made of borosilicate glass to reduce breakage caused by thermal shock when heating liquids. The bulb shape and narrow neck speed heating and limit vapor escape.

Glass Distilling Flasks
Distilling flasks separate components of a liquid. Sometimes called fractioning or distillation flasks, they have a side arm to direct vapors into another vessel.

Glass Filtering Flasks
Filtering flasks have a barbed sidearm to connect a vacuum hose to speed filtering. A solution is poured through filter paper placed inside a Buchner funnel and the vacuum is applied to pull liquid through the filter to speed the process.

Glass Vacuum Flasks
Vacuum flasks have insulated walls to maintain sample temperature longer than uninsulated flasks. Sometimes called Dewar flasks, they're often used to store liquified gases.
Includes Closure: Yes – Closure Type: Stopper

Glass Kjeldahl Flasks
Kjeldahl flasks measure nitrogen content in organic samples. They have a bulbous base to speed heating and a long narrow neck to limit vapor loss.
