Box End Wrenches

Box-end wrenches have an enclosed head end that fits around and grips the entire head of the fastener. They provide more contact to the fastener than an open-end wrench and can apply more torque since the box end is less likely to slip off the fastener compared to an open-end wrench.

These half moon-shaped box-end wrenches have a crescent-shaped handle for access to fasteners in tight spaces that cannot be reached with a straight handle wrench. Double-end wrenches have a different SAE (inch) size on each end for use on two different size fasteners. The enclosed head on each end of the handle provides more contact to the fastener and allows more torque than an open-end wrench since the box end is less likely to slip off the fastener.
