General Purpose Diagonal-Cutting Pliers

General purpose diagonal-cutting pliers trim wire and zip ties, shear through thin screws and nails, and nip and strip wire jackets in applications where insulated or non-sparking pliers aren't required. Also known as wire cutters, their blade-like cutting edges are offset from the handles to cut closely against surfaces. They concentrate leverage in their short jaws to maximize cutting force.

Standard-cut pliers leave a pointed, pinched edge on materials. They make rougher cuts but typically stay sharper to make more cuts than flush- and semiflush-cut pliers.
