Precision Swiss-Pattern Files

Available176 products

Swiss-pattern files make smooth cuts and remove small amounts of material in precision filing applications. They file more gradually, leave finer finishes, and are made to more exacting dimensional standards than American-pattern files. Typical applications include filing industrial molds, applying precision finishes in machining and tool and die applications, and performing intricate work in crafting and jewelrymaking. Standard precision files leave smooth surfaces and fine finishes on workpieces that are too large for or don't require the extra precision of needle files. Needle files cut, smooth, and remove material more precisely than precision files. Their slim body reaches into tight spaces and provides very gradual, focused material removal for decorative, intricate work. Diamond-coated needle files cut with diamond-grit abrasive rather than cutting teeth to abrade hard steels and brittle materials that are difficult to file with standard needle files.
