Standard Precision Files

Available9 products

Standard precision files leave smooth surfaces and fine finishes on workpieces that are too large for or don't require the intricate material removal of needle files. These Swiss-pattern files make smoother cuts, remove material more gradually, and are made to more exacting dimensional standards than American-pattern files.

Half-Round Files

Half-Round Files

Half-round files smooth and finish flat or round surfaces. Their flat face makes full contact with even surfaces and linear edges, and their convex face conforms with rounded grooves, holes, and edges.

Pillar Files

Pillar Files
Pillar files are rectangular like flat files but narrower and tapering in thickness for more intricate smoothing and finishing work. They also follow up after square files to perform the finishing step when turning round holes into square holes. Their safe (toothless) edges prevent marring of adjacent surfaces when filing in corners and square slots.

Round Files

Round Files
Round files remove material from holes, circular openings, and concave surfaces. They smooth or enlarge holes, shave bevels on curved edges, round off circular workpieces, and cut or finish keyholes.

Knife-Edge Files

Knife-Edge Files

Knife-edge files abrade material in corners, narrow slots, and tight angles. Their thin edges file keyways, fastener threads, and V-grooves. Tool-and-die makers and jewelers use knife files on workpieces with very acute angles.
