Fiber Optic Mid-Span Slitters
Mid-span slitters strip a fiber optic backbone cable in the middle of a run, exposing fiber to allow splicing to a drop cable. Also known as mid-span access tools, they close their upper and lower blades around the backbone cable and slide along the cable to slit the jacket and open a buffer tube. Fibers within the buffer tube are then used to make the splice without interrupting service on main cable.
