Test Leads
Test leads are coated, insulated, and color-coded wires that measure red (positive) and black (negative) electrical currents. They have a molded-in plug on one end that connects to testing and measuring devices or can be used to create a modular system that extends reach and measurement range. Meter test leads are used with alligator clips, testing probes, and plugs to sense electrical current and relay signals back to the testing and measuring device.
Test Leads with Probes
The needle-type tip on these leads locates and makes contact with exact testing points and penetrates insulation that surrounds wires for more accurate readings of electrical signals. These probes are often used for testing outlets, light bulbs, or circuit board components. Note: Test leads must have a category safety rating that matches or exceeds the meter's safety rating.

Test Leads with Clips
These test leads have a clip with spring-loaded jaws that clamp onto testing points to establish an electrical connection. Operators are not required to manually hold these clips in place, so they allow hands-free operation during testing applications. Note: Test leads must have a category safety rating that matches or exceeds the meter's safety rating.

Modular Test Leads
Standard modular test leads extend the middle portion of a test lead, which increases the distance between the operator and the electrical circuit. These modular leads help operators connect to test points in hard-to-reach areas. They do not include a clip or probe conductor. Note: Test leads must have a category safety rating that matches or exceeds the meter's safety rating.
