Orthotic insoles have arch support to help reduce foot and heel pain. They are sometimes recommended by doctors to increase foot support.

Puncture-resistant insoles have an integrated steel plate that prevents sharp debris from puncturing the foot. These insoles are used in footwear where workers encounter sharp debris such as nails and glass; and where workers can't see their footing, such as when walking in murky water.

Flat insoles are used by people with flat arches who might find other insoles uncomfortable. Insoles are placed inside shoes and can be replaced as needed.

Diabetic insoles are soft and conform to the foot to help prevent rubbing and foot sores on people with diabetes. Insoles are inserted into existing shoes and can be replaced when worn.

Heated insoles have a crevice under the toe end of the insole that holds a replaceable warming insert. Perforations allow the heat to move through the insole and warm the toes and foot.
