Order LookupSelf-Retracting Lifelines
Available9 products
Self-retracting lifelines, or SRLs, connect a worker's full-body safety harness to an anchor point to arrest falls. They allow the worker to move freely by extending and retracting with the worker as they move. If the worker starts to fall, the SRL will brake to stop the fall and absorb the energy, typically within 2 to 4 ft. from the start of the fall. They require less clearance and allow the worker to move farther away from the anchor point than would be possible with a shock-absorbing lanyard. They are commonly used by people working at heights in the construction, manufacturing, welding, utilities, transportation, and oil and gas industries.

Personal SRLs
Personal self-retracting lifelines (SRLs) are typically more portable and compact than mounted SRLs. The self-retracting device housing end of the SRL attaches to the worker's harness, which requires the worker to carry more weight than when using a mounted SRL. Sometimes called personal fall limiters (PFLs), SRLs are generally shorter than mounted SRLs so they're worn when working close to the anchor point.

Mounted SRLs
Mounted SRLs connect the housing end of the SRL to the anchor point to alleviate some of weight carried by the worker directly on the harness. They are typically longer than personal SRLs, which allows workers to move farther from the anchor point. They tend to be heavier than personal SRLs and are generally left mounted in place on the anchor point.
