Self-Retracting Lifelines

Available345 products
Self-retracting lifelines, or SRLs, connect a worker's full-body safety harness to an anchor point to arrest falls. They allow the worker to move freely by extending and retracting with the worker as they move. If the worker starts to fall, the SRL will brake to stop the fall and absorb the energy, typically within 2 to 4 ft. from the start of the fall. They require less clearance and allow the worker to move farther away from the anchor point than would be possible with a shock-absorbing lanyard. They are commonly used by people working at heights in the construction, manufacturing, welding, utilities, transportation, and oil and gas industries.

Personal SRLs

Personal SRLs
Personal self-retracting lifelines (SRLs) are typically more portable and compact than mounted SRLs. The self-retracting device housing end of the SRL attaches to the worker's harness, which requires the worker to carry more weight than when using a mounted SRL. Sometimes called personal fall limiters (PFLs), SRLs are generally shorter than mounted SRLs so they're worn when working close to the anchor point.

Mounted SRLs

Mounted SRLs
Mounted SRLs connect the housing end of the SRL to the anchor point to alleviate some of weight carried by the worker directly on the harness. They are typically longer than personal SRLs, which allows workers to move farther from the anchor point. They tend to be heavier than personal SRLs and are generally left mounted in place on the anchor point.

Mounted SRLs for Rescue

Mounted SRLs for Rescue
Integrated-rescue self-retracting lifelines (SRLs) have features that allow rescuers to respond quickly to raise or lower workers if they fall while working. Integrated-rescue SRLs are used in wind energy, emergency, confined space, and oil and gas industry applications where standard ground or descent rescue is difficult or dangerous.

Arc-Flash Rated Personal SRLs

Arc-Flash Rated Personal SRLs

Arc-flash rated personal self-retracting lifelines (SRLs) are constructed of materials that won't burn, melt, or conduct energy if they're exposed to high voltages or heat caused by an arc flash. They are typically worn by people who are working at height around electrical currents and arc-flash hazards, including utility workers in bucket trucks and maintenance workers near electrical transmitters.

Cab-Mounted SRLs

Cab-Mounted SRLs
Cab-mounted SRLs install on lift-truck cabs and pickers to provide a tie-off point for a personal fall protection harness. Mounted SRLs are typically longer than personal SRLs, which allows workers to move farther away from the anchor point. They also tend to be heavier than personal SRLs and are generally left mounted in place on the anchor point.

Cab-Mounted Connection-Sensing Mounted SRL Systems

Cab-Mounted Connection-Sensing Mounted SRL Systems
Connection-sensing cab-mounted SRLs sound an alarm and flash lights when they are disconnected from a harness. They are often used on pickers to ensure that workers stay connected to the SRL when working. The alarm sounds when it comes in close proximity to a harness that has a compatible RFID tag, and stops sounding when the worker attaches the SRL to the harness. Mounted SRLs are typically longer than personal SRLs, which allows workers to move farther away from the anchor point. They also tend to be heavier than personal SRLs and are generally left mounted in place on the anchor point.

Taglines for SRLs

Taglines for SRLs
Taglines attach to the carabiner on a self-retracting lifeline that's installed out of reach or in a hard to reach location. They allow the SRL to be stored retracted when not in use to reduce wear on the internal mechanism and protect the lifeline from damage caused by exposure to the elements. Taglines remain easily reachable so the worker can extract and connect to the SRL as needed. They are not rated for fall protection.

Lift Truck Cab-Mount Brackets

Lift Truck Cab-Mount Brackets
Cab-mount brackets mount directly to the arm on a lift truck cab to provide a secure overhead attachment point for self-retracting lifelines (SRLs). Workers can connect their SRLs to the bracket for fall protection while using the lift. Cab-mount brackets are frequently used on lift trucks for order-picking applications in warehouses.

Harness Quick Connectors for Personal SRLs

Harness Quick Connectors for Personal SRLs

Harness quick connectors for personal self-retracting lifelines (SRLs) reduce the time it takes for workers to attach an SRL to their safety harness compared to standard connection devices or buckles. Quick connectors are long so users can grab them without having to reach up to the middle of their back. They have a double lock on the connection point and should not be used with climbing carabiners.
