Vacuum anchors use suction to provide a tie-off point for fall protection equipment on clean, smooth non-porous surfaces. They are non-marring so they are often used when performing aircraft maintenance. They are also used for when working on surfaces that cannot be penetrated, ship and rail maintenance, and inspection facilities. The system requires a compressed air source from a shop line or portable cylinder to create the seal.
Vacuum Anchor Systems
These vacuum anchors have rubber pads and a metal housing to provide an anchor point on clean, smooth non-porous surfaces. The anchor point provides a tie-off for securing a personal fall protection system. They require an air cylinder or compressed air source to create a seal. Each anchor supports one person. Two vacuum anchors can be used to attach horizontal lifeline systems to support up to two people. Anchors should always be inspected and replaced after a fall has occurred.
