Sewage grinder pumps (also known as grinder pumps) have a grinding plate on the bottom that shreds large particles into small fragments so the pump inlet won't clog and the waste can be pumped into a sewage system. These sewage grinder pump systems are not for use with septic systems since the small particles will not be filtered out in the septic system’s drain field and will contaminate the groundwater.
