Ultrasonic flowmeters measure the flow rate of acoustically conductive liquids, such as water in water delivery systems or food products in manufacturing applications. Flowing liquid passes through a segment of pipe with externally mounted transducers to capture the velocity of the fluid and calculate the flow rate. Ultrasonic flowmeters do not come into contact with the system liquid and have no moving parts, minimizing alterations to system plumbing, installation costs, and drops to system line pressure.

Portable clamp-on ultrasonic flowmeters can be relocated around job sites to troubleshoot flow issues, verify readings, log periodic measurements, or wherever the meter is needed. Clamp-on meters mount directly over an active pipe or system line and do not come into direct contact with the fluid, reducing flow impediments, changes in line pressure, and measuring flow in systems where direct contact to transfer liquids is limited or impossible. They do not require the system to be shut down, making installation cost-efficient and easy. Flowmeters measure the flow rate of media traveling through a system.
