Air-Powered Sand Rammers & Backfill Tampers

Air-powered sand rammers and backfill tampers pummel their butt-end against loosely packed material to compact it. They pack soil, gravel, and other fill after excavation in construction applications and compress sand in casting molds. These pneumatic rammers and tampers operate on compressed air and contain few moving parts, so they are lightweight to ease handling, run cool for a long lifespan, and require minimal maintenance.

Air-Powered Backfill Tampers
Backfill tampers have a larger butt-end diameter than sand rammers to pack soil, clay, and sand and form a solid, level footing that prevents shifting and supports overlays. They are commonly used to firm up fill after cable trenching, pipe laying, and installing utility poles, street lights, and fire hydrants. Their slim body fits into tight areas that large plate compactors and drum rollers can't access.
