Single-rack rotary actuators utilize a rack-and-pinion drive mechanism with a cylinder piston attached to a rack gear, to convert linear motion into rotary motion. The linear movement of the piston and rack gear rotates the pinion gear and output shaft to create oscillating rotary motion.
