Y Strainers

Y strainers, also known as wye strainers, are shaped like a "Y" and install inline to prevent solids, pipe scale, rust, and debris from mixing into liquid, gas, or steam in a flowline. Y strainers use perforated or wire mesh straining screens and install vertically or horizontally to protect pumps, meters, control valves, steam traps, regulators, and other process equipment. These strainers are available in a variety of sizes and materials.

PVC Y Strainers
Polyvinyl chloride or PVC Y strainers are made from a nontoxic, lightweight thermoplastic resistant to ultraviolet (UV) light, acids, alkalis, oils, many corrosive inorganic chemicals, and temperatures up to 140°F. These PVC Y strainers protect pumps, control valves, and other process equipment from contaminants in commercial and industrial applications.

Nontoxic chlorinated polyvinyl chloride or CPVC Y strainers are made from a rigid thermoplastic resistant to most acids, bases, halogens, oxidants, salts, and temperatures up to 200°F. These CPVC Y strainers protect valves, pumps, and regulators from contaminants in hot and cold potable water applications.
