Aluminum cam and groove fittings consist of a grooved male nipple (adapter) and a female cam (coupler or camlock) that tighten together to form a seal. Aluminum cam and groove couplings are lightweight and resist corrosion, but are more susceptible to scratches and wear unless alloyed with other metals for strength. Aluminum camlock fittings are commonly used with water, chemicals, hydraulic oil, and petroleum products.

Type DL aluminum cam and groove female camlock flange adapters connect directly to a valve. Also known as TTMA (Tank Truck Manufacturers Association) flanges, these fittings have a female adapter on one end and a 150# flat face flange on the other end. Type DL aluminum cam and groove fittings are used with hydraulic fluids, water, and petroleum products.
