Chainsaws, pole saws, and log splitters cut wood to remove overgrowth and cut logs to size without the operator fatigue of hand saws and splitting wedges. Chainsaws use a rotating chain to cut down trees, remove branches, harvest timber, and section firewood in landscaping, logging, utility line clearance, and other applications that require felling, limbing, and bucking trees. Pole saws set their blade at the end of a long shaft that provides extra range to prune high or hard-to-reach branches. Chains and bars pair together to form the chainsaw blade that cuts through wood. Chainsaw lubricants leave a slippery film on the bar and chain to reduce friction that causes premature wear and overheating. Chainsaw protective clothing guards against injuries by stalling rotating chainsaw blades if accidental contact is made with the chain. Log splitters cleave wood into smaller pieces to ease transport or use as firewood.
