Tapping Heads

Available3 products
Tapping heads mount to the spindle of a drill press or milling machine and hold taps for creating threads in holes. Sometimes called tap holders, they have a tapered or threaded shank that connects to the machine spindle and a finished bore that holds the tap. Nonreversing tapping heads require the spindle to be stopped and reversed when the tap reaches the desired thread depth. Reversing (also called self-reversing) tapping heads automatically back out the tap when it reaches the desired thread depth so there's no need to stop and reverse the spindle. They reduce cycle time to speed productivity.
