Carbide Straight-Flute Machine Taps

Carbide straight-flute taps are harder than high-speed steel, cobalt, and powdered-metal straight-flute taps. They provide excellent heat resistance and can be used for tapping hard materials at high speeds. Straight-flute taps are used to create or repair internal threads in blind holes and through holes. As the taps are rotated into a hole to create threads, the chips move into the flutes but are not evacuated. Carbide straight-flute taps are installed into a toolholder on a machine for machine tapping applications.

Bright Finish Carbide Straight-Flute Taps
The bright finish on these taps provides a smooth, polished surface. Non-coolant-through taps do not have coolant holes, so a separate hose is required to bring coolant to the cutting area if it is needed.
