Carbide Straight-Flute Machine Taps

Available14 products
Carbide straight-flute taps are harder than high-speed steel, cobalt, and powdered-metal straight-flute taps. They provide excellent heat resistance and can be used for tapping hard materials at high speeds. Straight-flute taps are used to create or repair internal threads in blind holes and through holes. As the taps are rotated into a hole to create threads, the chips move into the flutes but are not evacuated. Carbide straight-flute taps are installed into a toolholder on a machine for machine tapping applications.

CrC-Coated Coolant-Through Carbide Straight-Flute Taps

CrC-Coated Coolant-Through Carbide Straight-Flute Taps
The CrC/C coating on these taps is a multilayer coating with a base layer of titanium nitride (TiN) and an outer layer of chromium carbide carbon (CrC/C). It protects the tools from wear when tapping titanium, titanium alloys, aluminum, and other ferrous and nonferrous materials. Coolant-through taps have holes that allow coolant to flow to their tip to reduce heat and friction during threading tasks.
