High-Speed Steel Straight-Flute Hand Taps

Available36 products
High-speed steel taps provide good wear resistance in general purpose tapping applications in a range of materials. Also called hand taps, high-speed steel straight-flute taps are turned with a tap wrench to create or repair internal threads in blind holes and through holes. As the taps are rotated into a hole to create threads, the chips move into the flutes but are not evacuated.

TiN-Coated High-Speed Steel Straight-Flute Taps

TiN-Coated High-Speed Steel Straight-Flute Taps
The TiN coating on these taps protects them from wear and allows them to be used at higher speeds than taps with a bright finish. Non-coolant-through taps do not have coolant holes, so a separate hose is required to bring coolant to the cutting area if it is needed.

Black-Oxide High-Speed Steel Straight Flute Taps

Black-Oxide High-Speed Steel Straight Flute Taps
The black-oxide finish on these taps retains lubricants to improve the taps' wear resistance and chip flow. Black-oxide taps should only be used on ferrous metals.

TiCN-Coated High-Speed Steel Straight-Flute Taps

TiCN-Coated High-Speed Steel Straight-Flute Taps
The TiCN coating on these taps protects them from wear and is harder and more wear-resistant than a TiN coating. Non-coolant-through taps do not have coolant holes, so a separate hose is required to bring coolant to the cutting area if it is needed.

TiN-Coated Coolant-Through High-Speed Steel Straight-Flute Taps

TiN-Coated Coolant-Through High-Speed Steel Straight-Flute Taps
The TiN coating on these taps protects them from wear and allows them to be used at higher speeds than taps with a bright finish. Coolant-through taps have holes that allow coolant to flow to their tip to reduce heat and friction during threading tasks.

TiAlN High-Speed Steel Straight Flute Taps

TiAlN High-Speed Steel Straight Flute Taps
The TiAlN coating on these taps withstands high temperatures and protects the taps from wear. It allows the taps to be used at faster speeds than taps with a bright finish, and it resists cracks and oxidation better than TiN or TiCN coatings.

TiCN-Coated Coolant-Through High-Speed Steel Straight-Flute Taps

TiCN-Coated Coolant-Through High-Speed Steel Straight-Flute Taps
The TiCN coating on these taps protects them from wear and is harder and more wear-resistant than a TiN coating. Coolant-through taps have holes that allow coolant to flow to their tip to reduce heat and friction during threading tasks.
