Spiral-Point Taps

Spiral-point taps have straight flutes with a spiral point that pushes chips in front of the tap as it moves into a hole and out the other side, eventually forcing the chips out of the hole. They create internal threads in through holes and are installed into a toolholder on a machine such as a lathe or CNC machine to operate. General purpose taps are intended for threading a wide range of materials. High-performance taps are harder and more wear-resistant than general purpose taps, and they provide better precision and accuracy than general purpose taps.
