General Purpose Spiral-Point Taps

General purpose spiral-point taps are intended for threading a wide range of materials. The taps have straight flutes with a spiral point that pushes chips in front of the tap as it moves into a hole and out the other side, eventually forcing the chips out of the hole. They create internal threads in through holes and are installed into a toolholder on a machine such as a lathe or CNC machine to operate.

UN Special Bright Finish General Purpose Spiral-Point Taps
UN special (UNS) taps have different diameter and pitch combinations than taps with other unified thread standards. UNS taps typically have more threads per inch and create stronger threads than UN fine (UNF) or UN extra-fine (UNEF) taps. The bright finish on these taps provides a smooth, polished surface.
