Pipe & Conduit Thread Taps

Pipe and conduit thread taps come in thread standards and sizes that are used on parts in pipe and conduit systems because they allow mated parts to form a pressure-tight seal. These taps create or repair internal threads in pipe, conduit, and fittings so they can mate with parts that have matching external threads. They are turned with a tap wrench for manual tapping applications or installed into a toolholder on a machine for machine tapping applications.

Interrupted-thread taps provide more space for chip evacuation than taps with a standard thread pattern, which allows large chips to be cleared from the taps during threading applications. They have an interrupted thread pattern in which every other tooth has been removed from the cutting edge.
