High-Performance Thread-Forming Taps for Multiple Materials

Available80 products
These high-performance chip-free taps can be used for threading multiple materials. They are harder and more wear-resistant than general purpose chip-free taps, and they provide better precision and accuracy than general purpose chip-free taps. Also called thread-forming taps, chip-free taps produce cleaner, stronger, and more accurate threads than taps that cut threads. They press against the sides of a hole to form threads as they are rotated into the hole. They don't produce chips, which eliminates the need to clear chips from the hole and prevents threads from being deformed during tapping. These taps are used on machines such as a drill presses, lathes, or CNC machines.

TiCN-Coated DIN/ANSI High-Performance Thread-Forming Taps for Multiple Materials

TiCN-Coated DIN/ANSI High-Performance Thread-Forming Taps for Multiple Materials
The TiCN coating on these taps protects them from wear and is harder and more wear-resistant than a TiN coating. These taps meet DIN length standards and have a longer overall length than taps that meet ISO, ANSI, and JIS length standards. They also meet ANSI shank standards, which means they measure their shank diameter in inches and fit in standard tools used in the U.S.

UN Coarse TiN-Coated High-Performance Thread-Forming Taps for Multiple Materials

UN Coarse TiN-Coated High-Performance Thread-Forming Taps for Multiple Materials
UN coarse (UNC) taps have fewer threads per inch than UN fine (UNF) taps. Compared to UNF taps, UNC taps perform better in threading applications on brittle materials and are less likely to cross thread. Coarse threads can also withstand more physical abuse than fine threads. The TiN coating on these taps protects them from wear and allows them to be used at higher speeds than taps with a bright finish.

TiCN-Coated Coolant-Through DIN/ANSI High-Performance Thread-Forming Taps for Multiple Materials

TiCN-Coated Coolant-Through DIN/ANSI High-Performance Thread-Forming Taps for Multiple Materials
The TiCN coating on these taps protects them from wear and is harder and more wear-resistant than a TiN coating. Coolant-through taps have holes that allow coolant to flow to their tip to reduce heat and friction during threading tasks. These taps meet DIN length standards and have a longer overall length than taps that meet ISO, ANSI, and JIS length standards. They also meet ANSI shank standards, which means they measure their shank diameter in inches and fit in standard tools used in the U.S.

UN Coarse Black-Oxide Finish High-Performance Thread-Forming Taps for Multiple Materials

UN Coarse Black-Oxide Finish High-Performance Thread-Forming Taps for Multiple Materials
UN coarse (UNC) taps have fewer threads per inch than UN fine (UNF) taps. Compared to UNF taps, UNC taps perform better in threading applications on brittle materials and are less likely to cross thread. Coarse threads can also withstand more physical abuse than fine threads. The black-oxide finish on these taps retains lubricants to improve the taps' wear resistance and chip flow. Black-oxide taps should only be used on ferrous metals.

UN Coarse Bright Finish High-Performance Thread-Forming Taps for Multiple Materials

UN Coarse Bright Finish High-Performance Thread-Forming Taps for Multiple Materials
UN coarse (UNC) taps have fewer threads per inch than UN fine (UNF) taps. Compared to UNF taps, UNC taps perform better in threading applications on brittle materials and are less likely to cross thread. Coarse threads can also withstand more physical abuse than fine threads. The bright finish on these taps provides a smooth, polished surface.
