Order LookupHigh-Performance Thread-Forming Taps for Steel & Stainless Steel
Available8 products
These high-performance chip-free taps provide better precision and accuracy than general purpose chip-free taps when used for threading holes in steel and/or stainless steel. High-performance chip-free taps are harder and more wear-resistant than general purpose chip-free taps. Also called thread-forming taps, they produce cleaner, stronger, and more accurate threads than taps that cut threads. They press against the sides of a hole to form threads as they are rotated into the hole. They don't produce chips, which eliminates the need to clear chips from the hole and prevents threads from being deformed during tapping. These taps are used on machines such as a drill presses, lathes, or CNC machines.

TiCN-Coated DIN/ANSI High-Performance Thread-Forming Taps for Stainless Steel
These taps are designed for tapping stainless steel. They have a TiCN coating that protects them from wear and is harder and more wear-resistant than a TiN coating. These taps meet DIN length standards and have a longer overall length than taps that meet ISO, ANSI, and JIS length standards. They also meet ANSI shank standards, which means they measure their shank diameter in inches and fit in standard tools used in the U.S.

TiN-Coated DIN/ANSI High-Performance Thread-Forming Taps for Steel
These taps are designed for tapping steel. They have a TiN coating that protects them from wear and allows them to be used at higher speeds than taps with a bright finish. These taps meet DIN length standards and have a longer overall length than taps that meet ISO, ANSI, and JIS length standards. They also meet ANSI shank standards, which means they measure their shank diameter in inches and fit in standard tools used in the U.S.

Oversized TiCN-Coated Coolant-Through DIN/ANSI High-Performance Thread-Forming Taps for Stainless Steel
These taps are designed for tapping stainless steel. Oversized taps have a slightly larger pitch diameter than standard taps. They are used to make threads in a hole before a coating or treatment is applied to the hole. Once the coating or treatment is applied, the threads will be reduced to the standard pitch diameter. The TiCN coating on these taps protects them from wear and is harder and more wear-resistant than a TiN coating. Coolant-through taps have holes that allow coolant to flow to their tip to reduce heat and friction during threading tasks. These taps meet DIN length standards and have a longer overall length than taps that meet ISO, ANSI, and JIS length standards. They also meet ANSI shank standards, which means they measure their shank diameter in inches and fit in standard tools used in the U.S.
