Pipe and conduit thread dies come in thread standards and sizes that are used on pipe, conduit, and fittings because they allow mated parts to form a pressure-tight seal. These dies create or repair threads on the outer surfaces of pipe, conduit, or fittings so they can be mated with parts that have matching internal threads. A part is inserted into the opening on the die, and the die is rotated around the part to cut or restore the external threads on the part.
