Spindle squares are a setup and alignment tool used to check the squareness and perpendicularity of the head of a milling machine. These spindle squares are mounted to a machine spindle with a straight shank and have a pair of balanced reading dial indicators on either side of the shank. With these two indicators reading concurrently, workers can quickly inspect and align their spindle and base for an accurate reading. Using spindle squares is an easier and more precise means of tramming than the more traditional method of using a dial test indicator.
