Specialty Micrometers

Specialty micrometers are used for specific jobs like measuring the inside and outside dimensions of tube thickness, gear teeth, pitch diameter of fasteners, and for measuring sheet metal thickness. Sheet Metal Micrometers
Sheet metal micrometers, also called deep jaw micrometers, take thickness measurements of sheet metal, paper, plastic, and rubber parts. These micrometers have a standard stock with thimble actuation, but have a deep, narrow jaw with a flat measuring face that is paired with a round or flat anvil.

Point Micrometers
These point micrometers resemble standard micrometers with C-shaped jaws, stock, and thimble but the measuring faces on the spindle and anvil come to sharp points. These smaller and pointed contact points are used to measure small grooves, recesses, and other tight spaces on a workpiece where a standard micrometer can’t be used. They are also used for making quick comparisons of thread accuracy in screw cutting applications.
