Specialty Micrometers

Specialty micrometers are used for specific jobs like measuring the inside and outside dimensions of tube thickness, gear teeth, pitch diameter of fasteners, and for measuring sheet metal thickness. Specialty micrometers have standard vernier or digital displays, but the size, shape, and orientation of the jaw, spindle, and anvil vary.

Adjustable-Collar & Interchangeable-Anvil Outside Micrometers
Interchangeable anvil outside micrometers have a standard micrometer C-shaped jaw and stock, but have anvils that can be changed to accommodate a range of applications. These micrometers are commonly used in machine shops, automotive repair shops, and for applications requiring a single micrometer with a range greater than 1”. Similarly, adjustable-collar micrometers are outside micrometers with an extension anvil collar and included setting standards to accomodate variable measuring lengths within a given range larger than a standard outside micrometer.

Can Seam Micrometers
Can-seam micrometers are used for measuring and inspecting the depth and thickness of aluminum, steel, and aerosol can seams. These micrometers have a shallow jaw with a steel nib that touches the inner seam of a can and a flat cylindrical spindle that is adjusted to touch the outer seam of a can and a measurement is taken.
