Specialty Micrometers

Specialty micrometers are used for specific jobs like measuring the inside and outside dimensions of tube thickness, gear teeth, pitch diameter of fasteners, and for measuring sheet metal thickness. Specialty micrometers have standard vernier or digital displays, but the size, shape, and orientation of the jaw, spindle, and anvil vary.

Blade micrometers have non-rotating spindles with flat blades for contact points. They have a standard micrometer body, thimble, and C-shaped jaw. Crimp Height Micrometers
Crimp height micrometers have a standard micrometer body and jaw with specialized measuring faces that are used to determine the height of crimp contacts. The anvil is used to support and position the top of the crimp while the pointed spindle is adjusted until it contacts the bottom of the radial surface. They are commonly used for measuring electrical components and plastic parts.

Tube Micrometers
Tube micrometers take thickness measurements of wall tubing and are used for measuring from a hole to an edge. These micrometers have a flat spindle paired with a cylindrical anvil that extends perpendicular to the spindle for a slim, rounded face used for the inside of small rounded features.

V-Anvil Micrometers
V-anvil micrometers take measurements of the outside diameter of cutting tools. They have a standard micrometer stock and thimble paired with a specialty jaw and anvil. These micrometers are commonly used to measure odd-fluted taps, cutters, reamers, and also check out-of-roundness from centerless grinding or other machining operations.
