General purpose end mills are intended for milling a wide variety of common materials but are not suitable for milling hard materials like titanium or gummy materials like aluminum. Finishing end mills create a finer finish on the workpiece than roughing and roughing/finishing end mills. Carbide corner-radius end mills provide excellent wear resistance and heat resistance, and they are harder than high-speed steel, cobalt, or powdered-metal corner-radius end mills. These end mills have a coating that protects them from wear. Sometimes called bull-nose end mills, corner-radius end mills have a square nose with slightly rounded corners that help distribute cutting forces evenly to prevent damage to the end mill and extend its life. They are rotated against a workpiece to create a flat-bottomed groove with slightly rounded inside corners in milling applications that require a specific radius.

General Purpose Finishing EXO-Coated Carbide Corner-Radius End Mills
The EXO coating on these end mills is a multilayered TiAlN coating with a very smooth finish. It resists wear better than a standard TiAlN coating. EXO-coated end mills can be used at high speeds and withstand high temperatures.

General Purpose Finishing WXS-Coated Carbide Corner-Radius End Mills
The WXS coating on these end mills protects them from wear and provides maximum heat resistance when milling nickel-based alloys and hardened steels with a Rockwell hardness of more than 50 HRC. It is harder and has a higher oxidation temperature than a TiAlN coating.
