Indexable Threading

Available763 products
Indexable threading is a machining process that uses replaceable cutting inserts to add internal or external threads to a workpiece. Each insert is designed to cut either internal or external threads in a specific thread direction, standard, and pitch. The inserts install into a compatible toolholder or tool body and can be replaced with new ones of the same type or different types without removing the toolholder or tool body from the machine. Indexable thread milling uses multitooth thread mills mounted to a milling machine. Indexable thread turning is a lathe or turning machine operation that uses a modular threading tool system consisting of a quick-change toolholder, thread-cutting head, and indexable inserts. Indexable threading tools require fewer tool changes than solid tools in high-volume metalworking and fabrication applications with high speeds, high feeds, and difficult-to-machine materials.
