Indexable & Modular Drilling & Holemaking

Available4,339 products
Indexable and modular drilling and holemaking tools have a tool body or toolholder that accepts replaceable indexable inserts or exchangeable heads to form a cutting edge. They require fewer tool changes than solid tools in high-volume metalworking and fabrication applications with high speeds, high feeds, and difficult-to-machine materials. The inserts and heads can be swapped out for new ones of the same type or different types without removing the tool body or toolholder from the machine. Indexable inserts have multiple cutting edges and can be rotated (indexed) to expose a fresh cutting edge when the old one dulls. Indexable countersinks and counterbores enlarge the tops of holes so fasteners sit below or flush with the top of the holes. Indexable drills are used for general purpose and small-hole drilling. Modular drills use exchangeable cutting tips for drilling. Spade drills use spearheaded inserts in a range of sizes so one drill can be used to cut holes of different diameters.
