High-Speed Steel Chucking Reamers with Morse Taper Shank

High-speed steel chucking reamers provide good wear resistance in general purpose reaming applications for enlarging or finishing an existing hole to an exact tolerance or size for a precise fit when installing fasteners or other parts. These reamers have a Morse taper shank that inserts directly into the spindle of a compatible drill press or lathe or into an adapter such as a Morse taper sleeve or socket to maximize efficiency when installing and removing the reamers from the toolholder. Morse taper shank chucking reamers are self-locking, which means the friction between the reamer's shank and the toolholder keeps the reamer in place. They provide accurate centering and are commonly used in metalworking and high-torque applications. Chucking reamers, sometimes called machine reamers, usually have a 45° chamfer on the cutting edge to help ensure accuracy as the reamer enters the hole.

Right-hand spiral-flute high-speed steel chucking reamers pull chips out of a hole as they enlarge it to an exact size for a precise fit when installing fasteners or other parts. This prevents damage to the reamer and the workpiece. Spiral-flute reamers leave a smoother finish on the hole than straight-flute reamers. They are suitable for applications with interrupted cuts, such as keyways. The bright finish on these high-speed steel reamers is unaffected when the reamers' cutting edges are resharpened.
