Spur auger drill bits have a solid center and offer more rigidity in aggressive drilling tasks than ship auger drill bits. They have a single cutting spur that scribes the edge of the hole to produce clean holes with a smooth finish in wood that does not have embedded nails. They also have open spiral flutes that provide efficient chip removal. Each bit has a self-feeding tip that pulls the bit into the workpiece and helps prevent it from moving, or walking, during drilling.
