Taper-Length Drill Bits

Available1 product
Taper length drill bits have a longer flute length and can drill deeper holes than jobber-length drill bits of the same size. Sometimes called long-series drill bits or long jobber drills, they are shorter than extended-length bits. The bits' shank diameter and flute diameter are the same.

Wire-Size Black-Oxide Finish Spiral-Flute High-Speed Steel Taper Length Drill Bits
Wire-size drill bits come in standard sizes that correspond to American Wire Gauge (AWG) sizes. The larger the wire size, the smaller the bit. The bits have a black-oxide finish that retains lubricants to improve the bits' wear resistance and chip flow. Black-oxide bits should only be used for drilling ferrous metals. High-speed steel drill bits provide more flexibility and absorb more shock and vibration than cobalt and carbide drill bits, making them suitable for use in manual drilling machines and handheld power tools. They may leave a rough finish on the hole. These bits have spiral flutes that evacuate chips as the bits drill into a workpiece.
