Order LookupCarbide-Tipped Screw-Machine Length Drill Bits
Available103 products
Carbide-tipped screw-machine length drill bits have carbide cutting edges that provide excellent hardness, wear resistance, and heat resistance and retain their hardness better than high-speed steel or cobalt cutting edges. The bits' bodies are made from a material that absorbs more vibration and shock than carbide, so they are less rigid and less likely to break than solid carbide drill bits. Screw-machine length drill bits are shorter than jobber length and maintenance length drill bits of the same size. Also called stub length drill bits, they provide more strength and rigidity and can drill straighter holes than longer drill bits. Their short length also allows them to access tight spaces where longer drill bits cannot fit. They are used in handheld drills and machine setups such as drill presses.
Primary Material Application
Bright Finish Spiral-Flute Carbide-Tipped Screw-Machine Length Drill Bits
The bright finish on these drill bits is not affected when the bits' cutting edges are resharpened. Spiral-flute drill bits evacuate chips as the bits drill into a workpiece. These bits do not have coolant holes, so a separate hose is required to bring coolant to the bits' tip if it is needed.

Coolant-Through TiN-Coated Spiral-Flute Carbide-Tipped Screw-Machine Length Drill Bits
The TiN coating on these drill bits protects them from wear and heat when drilling steel, stainless steel, and aluminum. These drill bits have holes that allow coolant to flow to their tip to reduce heat and help clear chips during drilling tasks. The bits' spiral flutes evacuate chips as the bits drill into a workpiece.
