Drill Bit Point Angle

Drill bit point angle is the included angle at a drill bit's tip where its cutting edges meet. Drill bits with a small (or steep) drill bit angle, such as a 90° drill bit angle, are used for drilling softer materials such as plastic.

A 118° drill bit angle is common on general purpose drill bits used for drilling a range of materials, such as wood, aluminum, and plastic.

Drill bits with a large (or flat) drill bit angle, such as a 135° split-point angle, are used for drilling harder materials such as stainless steel or titanium.
