Cam-action indexing plungers index and position parts in high-precision machining applications. They're manually retracted (unlike spring plungers) to ensure plungers aren't inadvertently retracted when vibration or force is encountered. They're often used when the plunger needs to remain disengaged for periods of time. The handle rotates and locks into position to ensure the pin remains in the retracted position until moved.
