Residential convertible exhaust and recirculation hoods provide more installation flexibility than other types of residential kitchen hoods. The hoods can be connected to ductwork to extract air from the cooking area and vent it outside the home. They also can be used with compatible, optional charcoal filters to filter the air around the cooking area and then recirculate the filtered air into the kitchen in applications where the hoods cannot be connected to ductwork. The filters can be replaced as needed to help ensure the hoods can effectively neutralize cooking odors in the air. The hoods have a removable grease filter that can be cleaned periodically to maintain the hoods' performance, and they have a light fixture that accepts a compatible bulb for lighting the surface of the stove or range underneath the hood.
