They also may help regulate the indoor air temperature since they circulate the air. Also known as agricultural fans, these fans mount to an exterior wall and are suitable for applications where fans cannot be mounted to ceilings.

Cone exhaust fans are typically used to ventilate dairy facilities. They have a discharge cone that maximizes airflow and reduces turbulence as air leaves the fan in application where multiple fans are installed next to each other. The fans have shutters on the intake side, which helps minimize turbulence as air moves through the fan. The shutters close when the fans turn off to block out drafts. These fans also have discharge guards that help prevent objects from entering the fan on the discharge side. Belt-drive cone fans allow users to adjust the fans' blade speed and airflow. Belts connect the fans' motors to their fan blades. Belt-drive fans are better suited than direct-drive fans for high airflow (≥ 2000 cfm) or high static pressure (≥ 0.50") applications.
