Insulation pads and rolls, sometimes called duct insulation wraps, reduce heat transfer between spaces. They consist of flexible materials such as fiberglass or foam that block heat transfer and provide some sound absorption. Their effectiveness is measured in units called R-value. As the R-value increases, the ability of the insulation to decrease noise and heat transfer increases.

Duct liners are applied to the interior of a round or rectangular duct to improve their R-value. They are used to improve the HVAC system efficiency while reducing the sound signature of the system while in use. They consist of a hypoallergenic insulating layer glued to a moisture barrier such as foil scrim kraft or aluminum foil.
