Backdraft Dampers
Backdraft dampers, also called gravity dampers, keep air flowing in one direction through an HVAC duct. These dampers are pushed open when the ventilation system is running and use gravity to close when it is not to prevent the backflow of air or materials. Motorized dampers have an integrated motor that opens and closes the damper when the system runs.
Wall-Mount Backdraft Dampers
Wall-mount backdraft dampers, also called wall shutters, install vertically onto the wall vents of an HVAC system and prevent air from flowing backward. They feature spring-loaded blades that open when the system is running and close when it is not to keep the conditioned air in the occupied space.

Ceiling/Roof-Mount Backdraft Dampers
Ceiling- and roof-mount dampers install horizontally onto openings in the ceiling or roof and help prevent backflow. They feature spring-loaded blades that open when the HVAC system is running and close when it is not to prevent conditioned air from flowing backward and leaving the occupied space.

Universal-Mount Backdraft Dampers
Universal-mount dampers install onto vertical or horizontal vents and ensure that air flows in the correct direction. They feature spring-loaded blades that open when the system is running and close when it is not to keep the conditioned air in the occupied space.
