Ductable dehumidifiers dry the air and help prevent mold, mildew, and odors in offices, schools, and other indoor spaces where continual moisture removal is needed. Also called whole-house dehumidifiers, they can reduce the use of air-conditioning because drying the air can help the environment feel cooler. These condensate dehumidifiers have refrigerated coils that chill the air as it moves through the dehumidifier. This causes moisture in the air to condense and collect inside the dehumidifier. A hose carries the condensate to a floor drain or to a condensate pump that moves it to a drain. These dehumidifiers are suitable for drying the air in warm, humid areas.

These ductable dehumidifiers have a separate control that allows them to pull in fresh air from outside to dissipate stale air and help reduce trapped airborne contaminants in indoor areas. They can ventilate indoor areas even when dehumidification is not required. They can be installed into ducted HVAC systems to dehumidify all rooms that are connected to the HVAC system, or they can be used as freestanding dehumidifiers. When used as part of a ducted HVAC system, they require professional installation and the system's blower must be on to move air through the dehumidifier and dry it.
