Cartridge Air Filters

Cartridge air filters have a rigid frame and aluminum dividers that help the filters hold their shape under difficult operating conditions, such as variable air volume, turbulent airflow, repeated fan shutdown, high temperatures or humidity, or intermittent exposure to water. They are commonly installed in HVAC systems in office buildings, data centers, healthcare and hospitality facilities, museums, schools, and areas where electronics are handled to trap contaminants in the air stream. This prevents contaminants from building up in the equipment and improves indoor air quality. These filters have a MERV (minimum efficiency reporting value) rating of 11 to 14. A filter's MERV rating measures how efficiently it removes contaminants from the air stream based on the size of the particles it can effectively capture. The higher a filter's MERV rating is, the more effectively the filter traps small particles.

MERV 11 Cartridge Air Filters
MERV 11 cartridge air filters capture 80% to 85% of particles between 3 and 10 microns in size (such as dusting aids and cement dust), 50% to 65% of particles between 1 and 3 microns in size (lead dust, humidifier dust, coal dust, and nebulizer droplets), and less than 20% of particles between 0.30 and 1 micron in size (most smoke, sneeze nuclei, insecticide dust, copier toner, and face powder).

MERV 13 Cartridge Air Filters
MERV 13 cartridge air filters capture almost 90% of particles between 3 and 10 microns in size (such as dusting aids and cement dust), 80% to 85% of particles between 1 and 3 microns in size (lead dust, humidifier dust, coal dust, and nebulizer droplets), and 35% to 50% of particles between 0.30 and 1 micron in size (most smoke, sneeze nuclei, insecticide dust, copier toner, and face powder). They capture contaminants more efficiently than MERV 11 cartridge air filters.

MERV 14 Cartridge Air Filters
MERV 14 cartridge air filters capture 90% to 95% of particles between 3 and 10 microns in size (such as dusting aids and cement dust), 85% to 90% of particles between 1 and 3 microns in size (lead dust, humidifier dust, coal dust, and nebulizer droplets), and 50% to 75% of particles between 0.30 and 1 micron in size (most smoke, sneeze nuclei, insecticide dust, copier toner, and face powder). They capture contaminants more efficiently than MERV 13 cartridge air filters.
