Type A grooved pins, also called DIN 1471 or type 1 pins, are tapered with grooves that run along their entire length. This provides a strong hold that gets progressively stronger as the pin is driven into place. These pins may also be classified as DIN 1470 and DIN 1473, depending on their features.

Type B grooved pins, also called DIN 1472 or type 2 pins, are tapered pins with grooves that run approximately half their length from one end to the middle. Their smooth portion serves as a handle, while their grooved section locks the pin into place when installed.

Type D grooved pins, also called DIN 1474 or type 4 pins, are reverse-tapered and grooved along half their length. The other half is straight-walled without grooves. This design provides maximum holding power while allowing easy installation in blind holes.

Type E grooved pins, also called DIN 1475 or type 5 pins, feature parallel grooves that run three-quarters of their length and are equal in distance from either tip. They are commonly used as a t-handle on valves and tools.

Type G grooved pins, also known as DIN 1469 or type 67 pins, are straight pins with grooves that run half their length from one end to the middle. The opposite end features a circular groove that secures springs, cables, and wires.

Round-head grooved pins are straight pins with grooves that run their entire length and round heads on their ends. These grooves lock the pin in place once installed, and their round heads eliminate the chance for snags while providing a clean appearance for exposed heads.
