Structural Bolts & Heavy Hex Bolts
Heavy hex head structural bolts have shorter shanks and thread lengths than standard hex bolts. Structural bolts secure steel-to-steel parts and connections. They have hex heads that tighten with ratchets or spanner torque wrenches. These rugged steel bolts come in galvanized, yellow zinc, and black oxide finishes. Standard heavy hex bolts have larger, thicker heads than regular hex bolts and are most often used in high-temperature, high-strength industrial applications. Heavy hex bolts with forged heads are also commonly used as headed anchor bolts. All are designed to be used with hex nuts for a secure fit.
A325 Structural Bolts
ASTM A325 bolts are heavy hex bolts made of medium carbon steel with a flat bearing surface, washer faced, and chamfered point. A325 bolts are partially threaded for precise grip in structural joints. These bolts are one of the most common heavy hex fasteners, usually used for structural support in steel construction. Used with matching nuts, these bolts come in a black oxide finish or are hot-dipped galvanized for added corrosion resistance. Black oxide coatings are corrosion resistant in dry environments. Hot-dipped galvanized steel coatings are more corrosion resistant than zinc plating, giving these bolts a thicker coating than other finishes.

A490 Structural Bolts
The A490 structural bolts are heated-treated alloy, heavy hex fasteners designed to join steel-to-steel connections. Heavier than A325 bolts, they have a flat bearing surface, washer faced, and chamfered point. These heat-treated bolts are corrosion-resistant and are designed for use in harsh environments. They are used in structural steel joints in heavy construction applications that need high tensile strength. A490 bolts come in a black oxide finish and are partially threaded for precise grip in structural joints.
Class 10.9 Structural Bolts
High-strength Grade 10.9 structural bolts are made using carbon steel, its alloy, and low carbon boron steel. These bolts have been quenched and tempered. They are mainly used in exterior construction and building connections as well as automotive areas to fasten large components together, as well as in motors, engines, railroad cars and processing equipment. These bolts have a high-tensile strength and offer good wear resistance. Class 10.9 bolts come in a black oxide finish and are partially threaded for precise grip in structural joints.
A325 Tension Control Bolts
Heat-treated A325 tension control bolts are a heavy-duty bolt-nut-washer assembly used in steel-to-steel construction. These A325 bolts are not designed to be driven. The end of the shank has a spline, when engaged by an electric power wrench, it prevents the bolt from turning while the nut is tightened. The spline breaks off, showing that the bolt has been properly installed. These tension bolts come in a black oxide finish, which is corrosion resistant in dry environments.

A490 Tension Control Bolts
Grade A490 tension control bolts are heat-treated steel bolt-nut-washer assemblies. These heavy-duty bolts are used in steel-frame construction or high-strength applications. The head of these bolts is domed and is not driven. The end of the shank has a spline on it that holds the bolt steady while a power wrench fastens the nut. When the nut is tightened, the spline breaks off, showing that the bolt has been properly installed. These tension bolts come in a black oxide finish, which is corrosion resistant in dry environments.

A394 Tower Bolts
Tower bolts are rod-shaped bolts used to secure steel-to-steel structural connections for the construction of electrical transmission towers and other steel structures. These bolts may also be used as high-strength anchors for wind power machines. Type 0 tower bolts have a head marking of T-0; Type 1 tower bolts have a head marking of T-1. Type 1 bolts have a higher tensile strength than Type 0. Tower bolts come in a hot-dipped galvanized finish for corrosion resistance. Hot-dipped galvanized steel coatings are more corrosion resistant than zinc plating, giving these bolts a thicker coating than other finishes.
A307B Heavy Hex Bolts
Grade B A307 heavy hex bolts are externally threaded fasteners made of carbon steel. These bolts are very similar to standard hex bolts however the head size across the flats and corners is larger providing a broader bearing surface. A307B bolts come in a black oxide finish or hot-dipped galvanized steel for corrosion resistance and are commonly used in piping systems and other high-pressure applications. Black oxide coatings are corrosion resistant in dry environments. Hot-dipped galvanized steel coatings are more corrosion resistant than zinc plating, giving these bolts a thicker coating than other finishes.
Grade B8 Heavy Hex Bolts
These Grade B8M heavy hex bolts are commonly used in marine, saltwater and other heavy industrial environments that require corrosion-resistant fasteners. They are often used in water, waste, petroleum and heavy construction areas, and are made of AISI 316 stainless steel and are more corrosion-resistant than 18-8 stainless steel.
A193 B7 Heavy Hex Bolts
These A193 B7 heavy hex bolts are strong, resist corrosion, and are often used in high-heat chemical and petroleum applications. They’re built to withstand high pressure and heat when used on valves, piping, and pressure vessels.
