IEC Manual Motor Starters

Available2 products
IEC manual motor starters are made to standards designated by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). Manual motor starters turn circuits on and off to small motors, machinery, and electrical systems and help protect them from damage caused by overheating, low voltage, and overcurrent. These manually operated motor starters combine contactors, overload relays, and disconnect switches to connect and disconnect electrical loads safely. IEC manual motor starters are cost-effective alternatives to heavy-duty NEMA manual motor starters. They have modular designs that adhere to global design standards, allowing them to plug and play into existing systems more easily than NEMA manual motor starters.

Non-Reversing Starters with Thermal Overloads

Non-Reversing Starters with Thermal Overloads

These non-reversing IEC manual motor starters with thermal overload relays connect and disconnect power to motors and other high-current equipment and machinery in a single direction. Thermal overloads, also known as heaters, prompt motor starters to break electrical connections with downstream equipment once a set temperature is reached to protect connected loads from overheating and causing damage. They contain either bimetallic strips or melting alloy solder materials. When the current exceeds a predetermined threshold and temperatures rise, the material bends or liquefies, causing the thermal unit to break the circuit and cause the motor starter to break its power contacts. As the materials cool down, they will return to their normally closed position and the circuit can be reset automatically or manually.
